 I have talked about this before.  So if some of the things I say in this post sound familiar, it may be because it is something I have said before. Some points in this issue bear repeating, and sometimes to feel truly heard, you have to repeat yourself. So, it actually happened. Roe Vs. Wade was repealed. And almost half the states in America have either made abortion illegal already or are working on it. In some states, like Texas, people had appointments made and had traveled to appointments. Only to show up and find the clinics closed.  This wasn't a surprise really. That is what happens when the highest court in the land is stacked to one side. R V. W isn't just about access to safe abortion though. It is also about privacy in health care and accessing health care safely.  This is going to be a political post just so you're aware.  Our neighbours to the south are at it again. For the land of the free, they are sure are making it difficult for their citizens to be free. And this time they are mixing the right to healthcare and women's rights. If you haven't heard, here's a quick fill-in-the-blanks. Earlier this week, a supreme court draft was leaked. The draft was signed by Justice Joseph Alito, the contents of that draft are what has me and a lot of other people really upset.  Roe vs. Wade was a decision made by the supreme court in 1973. In it, the justices decided that a women's right to a medically safe abortion was protected by the US constitution. Justice Alito's draft wants to overturn that decision.  As you may know, today is International Women's Day.  I am going to give you a break from politics today to write about some women that deserve more than they were given by history.  1. We have all heard about Rosa Parks, but have you heard about Claudette Colvin? Nine months before Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat, 15-year-old Claudette Colvin was taking the bus from school. At school that day Claudette had been learning about the Underground Railroad, Sojourner Truth, and Harriet Tubman. A white woman approached her and told her that she wanted her seat. Claudette refused (she had paid her fare just like everyone else) and she was hauled off the bus in handcuffs by two police officers. Later in life, she was asked why she wasn't as well known as Rosa Parks. She felt that as a teenager her words wouldn't be taken as seriously.  2.
